Nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, Aoraki Mount Cook School stands as a unique educational institution at the heart of Mount Cook Village. Situated just 15 kilometres south of Aoraki / Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak, this school holds a special place within the pristine beauty of the Southern Alps.

As the only school located within a national park in New Zealand, Aoraki Mount Cook School serves as a vital educational hub for the local community. Established in May 1960, the original school building weathered decades of extreme conditions before the decision was made in late 2019 to embark on a journey to design and construct a new facility.

Our task was clear: to create a modern school and learning centre that would not only meet the educational needs of the pupils and families of Aoraki Mount Cook but also harmonize with the natural splendour of its surroundings. While the challenge was significant, our commitment to this endeavour was unwavering.
