The design of this Lake Hood home capitalised on its lakeside location and prevailing easterly winds. To create an ideal flow for both functionality and wind protection, we configured the house with two primary pavilions connected in an elongated, asymmetrical H-shape. The gabled roofs run from East to West, offering a buffer against the wind while fostering a sense of openness towards the water. This layout not only creates sheltered terraces and courtyards for year-round outdoor enjoyment but also ensures privacy from neighbouring properties.
From the street, the house maintains a clean and minimalist façade, with limited windows to enhance privacy. The central front door is understated, hinting at the expansive views that await within. Inside, the pitched ceilings and generous glazing on the North and West sides invite natural light and emphasize the connection to the surrounding environment, particularly the canal and mountain vistas.
