Our design solution draws inspiration from the simple geometry of the humble lean-to pole shed, both in form and material. The ubiquitous presence of pole sheds in the Canterbury landscape guided our approach, ensuring the new home would harmonize seamlessly with its surroundings. Viewed from the roadside, the house presents an elegant expression of two farm buildings, evoking a sense of organic design commonly found in the rural landscape.

Emphasising simplicity of form was central to our design ethos. We carefully identified key elements within the house that allowed it to be interpreted as a typical dwelling while maintaining a simple, shed-like aesthetic. Distinctive changes in materials help delineate the entry and living areas, guiding visitors seamlessly through the space.
